Introduction to Geochemistry

Introduction to Geochemistry (MGS 513/613)

A UM undergraduate/RSMAS graduate course that covers the fundamentals of geochemistry, including the origin of the elements, minerals in the environment, chemical bonding, thermodynamics and kinetics, isotope systematics, and biogeochemical cycles of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus. We apply these concepts to water-rock interactions, low temperature geochemistry, and applied environmental research areassuch as pollution, water quality, and sea level rise.
