Research

“...the clearest records of biogeochemical events are elucidated through careful study of sedimentary and diagenetic patterns.”

From Grotzinger and James, 2000.

Research in Oehlert Lab focuses on a number of different projects focused on records of carbonate formation, diagenesis, and biogeochemical cycling through Earth history. We employ multi-disciplinary research approaches to quantify the physical, chemical, and biological processes that produce carbonate and evaporite minerals, stromatolites, dust, and organic matter.
